My best friend Samantha Steer is an aspiring retoucher. I met Samb in my second year of college and I pretty much fell in love with her. She’s the cutest little thing in the whole entire world. She is a horrible speller but makes up for it with her design skills. She was one of the people that taught me how to use the programs, I am very lucky to have a friend like her. She is a photoshop genius, so don’t get on her bad side.
Here is some of Samb’s work:

One more from the Cheetos Orange Underground…its hilarious.

Emma Wathan is my best friend. It’s weird to think that I didn’t even know this girl existed three years ago, now I can’t go three minutes without talking to her. She is the reason why I am doing what I am doing. We met in first year, we were placed in a group together, and we’ve been inseparable ever since then. In first year the advertising students have a choice to make - to either go business or creative. They say that that decision was one of the most important ones we will ever have to make, it sure was the hardest. They also say that it is easier to find a job if you go the business route, this intrigued me. I knew that I was a creative person, but I was scared so I chose business. Thankfully Emma knew that I was a creative person, she was scared too but she has balls, figuratively. She made me march back to my program co-ordinator and change to creative. She pretty much saved my life, figuratively.
Emma has taught me a lot. Not just about design but about life in general. We are alike in a lot of ways. We have the same sense of humour, and we can have a conversation with each other without saying a word. Sometimes I’ll make eye contact with her in class and know exactly what she’s thinking, that usually follows with both of us bursting into laughter. It’s like having another sister. I always go to her for anything and we take care of each other. She is the student creative director at MCA which means that she is my superior. Along with being talented and funny, she is a really good leader.
She always says that ‘good is the enemy of great’, so we push each other to be great. We made a pact that we will be together for the rest of our lives, not in a lesbian kind of way. We plan on moving out to Toronto together really soon when we start our internships. Emma is pushing to do great things in this industry (and she will), and I will be there to support her every step of the way. I know she will do the same for me.
Eventually we will open up WAKACIN+PRATHAN PRODUCTIONS and rule the world.
If you’re a creative director and reading this then check out her website, follow her on Twitter, and hire her. Then maybe hire me too.
I love you girl, you’re stuck with me.
